Donald Trump pointed to a “dishonest media” for trying to paint him as an anti-Semitic over a six-point star used in a meme Trump posted Friday on social media attacking Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for being corrupt.
“Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff’s Star, or plain star!” the presumptive GOP nominee said in a tweet early on the 4th of July.

The meme featured a Fox News poll in which a majority of respondents describe Clinton as corrupt and included a backdrop of money and a caption embedded on a red star that said: “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever!”
Critics jumped at the chance to say the star resembled the Star of David, the symbol of Judaism, even though it’s also commonly used as a sheriff’s badge. The offending image was reportedly created by white supremacists and amid all the controversy, Trump replaced it with one that used a red circle instead.
