Kenny Chesney announces cop’s death at concert, but there was a big oops – how he fixed it was stellar!

Country music star Kenny Chesney was forced to apologize after mistakenly announcing at a concert over the weekend that a police officer who had been shot seven times in the line of duty had died.

“I think my emotions got the best of me — and I wasn’t as clear as I could have been,” Chesney said of the error, according to TMZ.

Folcroft Borough Police Officer Christopher Dorman was shot multiple times Friday while approaching several people suspected of smoking marijuana and Chesney told thousands of fans at Lincoln Financial Field concert that the officer had passed away as a result of his wounds — Dorman is expected to make a full recover and the suspect has been arrested.

The Folcroft Borough Police Department responded on Facebook shortly after Chesney said Dorman had died and said they hope the recording artist corrects the record:

The department followed up on Sunday, announcing that Chesney had called Dorman in the hospital to apologize and posted a photo of the officer on the phone with the country music singer.

The caption read: “He apologized for last night and wants to take Chris out to a football game and grab some beers!! Thank you Kenny!!”

Chesney later recapped his conversation with Dorman on Twitter: “He’s doing great. Told him we’d watch an Eagles game & have beers one day. Here’s to a speedy recovery!”
