Donald Trump said Monday that he regrets calling Sen. Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas — but not for the reason you might think.

During an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor,” host Bill O’Reilly asked the presumptive Republican presidential nominee if he would consider “stepping across the aisle” for his for positions within a Trump administration, and mentioned the Massachusetts Democrat.

“No, she wouldn’t be my first choice,” Trump said, and then launched into his reasoning, based primarily upon her performance in the Senate.

“Do you regret calling her Pocahontas?” O’Reilly asked.

“I do regret calling her Pocahontas,” the candidate replied. “Because I think it’s a tremendous insult to Pocahontas.”

When Warren began ranting against Trump on Twitter, he replied, “Isn’t she the indian?” and has dubbed her “Pocahontas” ever since, referring to her previous native American claim.

Studio staff was more than amused.
