Does President Obama’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton for president create a “conflict of interest” for Attorney General Loretta Lynch given the criminal investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server?
That was at the heart of the series of questions posed by Fox News host Chris Wallace at the close of his interview with Lynch on “Fox News Sunday.”
“Does it make it harder for you to handle the criminal investigation into Clinton when your boss is saying he thinks she should be president?” Wallace asked.
The attorney general claimed the Clinton investigation was being handled like any other.
“We’ve got career agents and lawyers looking at that. They will follow the facts and follow the evidence wherever it leads and come to a conclusion,” Lynch said. “This is not a conflict for me or for the department or for anyone.”
She added that she’d never discussed the Clinton’s criminal investigation with the president.
“That’s not the kind of relationship that I have with people there, and it would be inappropriate to do so.”
If they don’t discuss what’s going at the Justice Department, what do they discuss? Also, the FBI’s criminal investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server has been in the news for months.
