Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, whose name has frequently been mentioned as a possible vice president or even chief executive, said she has no desire to enter the public arena again.

“Dr. Rice has repeatedly said in past cycles as well as this one, she’s not interested in being vice president,” Stanford University said in a statement Friday. “She’s happy at Stanford and plans to stay.”

She said she enjoys being a Stanford University political science professor.

Rice, who also served as President George W. Bush’s national security advisor, will join her old boss by not attending the Republican National Convention next month in Cleveland, where Donald Trump is expected to be nominated as his party’s standard bearer.

Other possible Trump running mates that have been named include former 2016 presidential candidates Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, and Ted Cruz of Texas, Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, and former House Speaker Georgia Rep. Newt Gingrich.

U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn could also be a contender as Trump’s running mate. The Tennessee Republican is a huge supporter of both the presumptive Republican presidential nominee as well as his no-nonsense immigration policy.

Of those, Rubio has joined Rice in indicating he has no interest in the number-two position.

Here’s Rice’s final appearance on “Fox News Sunday” while serving as secretary of state.
