Those who profess to know it all when it comes to gun violence never seem to know a thing when it comes to guns. This was demonstrated in spades Monday when President Obama described the events that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday at an Orlando, Florida gay nightclub.

The president told reporters that Omar Mateen, the Pulse nightclub gunman, carried out his carnage with “an assault rifle.” Although he actually used a Sig Sauer MCX, many outlets reported that he had an AR-15.

At first glance the two weapons look similar.

The letters “AR” do not stand for assault rifle, but rather “Armalite Rifle,” the firm that developed the weapon.

Progressives latched onto the “AR” designation to call it an assault rifle and make it sound all the more scary.

The president went on to say that Mateen also had “a handgun, a Glock, which had a lot of clips in it.”

First of all, Glocks don’t use clips — they use magazines. Secondly, you can onlt put one magazine in the well at a time.

Social media roared over that one.

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt” is a quote attributed to both Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain.

No matter who said it, it certainly applied to Obama. And we’re supposed to take this guy seriously?
