Those out to politicize the deadly shooting in Orlando, Fla, that claimed the lives of 49 people have been pushing an “anti-LGBT” agenda as the reason for the attack,  even though multiple sources, including his ex-wife, suggesting the gunman may have been gay.

But has the real reason for the attack at the gay nightclub been right under people’s noses all along?

One of the victims wounded in the attack said the radicalized Muslim shooter, Omar Mateen, called 911 from the bathroom and pledged his support to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria before telling police he was carrying out the attack in retaliation for the U.S. bombing Afghanistan.

Patience Carter, 20, participated in an emotional press conference from Florida Hospital Orlando and recounted what she heard.

“[Mateen] said the reason why he was doing this is he wanted America to stop bombing his country,” she said, according to ABC affiliate WFTV.

The gunman was born in the U.S., but his parents are from Afghanistan — his father, Seddique Mateen is a supporter of the Taliban and once ran for president of Afghanistan.
