Republican Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle distributed a campaign flyer this week that directed voters to a porn website.
Angle, a former state legislator and the GOP’s nominee in a 2010 Senate race against Sen. Harry Reid, sent supporters a newsletter called “The Angle Examiner,” which contained a link to a website called joeheck.com — ostensibly the campaign website of her primary opponent, Republican Rep. Joe Heck.
In fact the site, totally unrelated to Heck’s campaign, redirects to a website called “Cartoon Sex,” which streams volumes of anime pornography. Anime is the abbreviated pronunciation of “animated” in Japanese, and refers to pornographic renderings of cartoons.
The website of Angle’s primary opponent is actually www.drjoeheck.com.
Angle, a tea party stalwart, served in the Nevada assembly from 1999-2007. She won a hotly contested primary in 2010 to run against Sen. Harry Reid, but lost what was widely seen as a winnable race.
The misprint was first noticed by the journalist Jon Ralston, dean of the Nevada press corp.
Pornhub’s 2015 Year In Review, an aggregation of data from the internet’s most popular pornographic website, indicates “cartoon” was a top five search term last year. It saw a search frequency increase of 81% between 2014 and 2015.
