Stand back, Margaret Thatcher, because lefty actress Meryl Streep is donning a flip wig, a fat suit, and orange face make up in a stage appearance to lampoon presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.
As Entertainment Weekly notes, the three-time Oscar winner donned the Trump getup at the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala event at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. She appeared with her “Mamma Mia!” costar Christine Baranski, who appeared onstage dressed as Hillary Clinton.

“You’ll let me know why it is all the women say no,” Streep sang as part of her satirical take on the song “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” from Cole Porter’s Broadway hit “Kiss Me, Kate.”
This is far from the first time Streep has lampooned a political figure who stood opposite of the actresses’ own political ideals. Streep’s last attempt at political roles was when she portrayed British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the widely panned film “Thatcher” released in 2011.
The movie didn’t get very good reviews and was so far off Thatcher’s own children called it “some left-wing fantasy.”
Streep has never steered clear of politics, though. She is a well known Hillary supporter as can be seen in the selfie she took with Clinton at the State Department Dinner for the Kennedy Center Honors gala in 2012.
Despite having no scientific training, Streep is also remembered for having “testified” before Congress at the height of the scare over the spraying of apple crops with the chemical Alar.
