If Hillary Clinton was expecting the usual softball questions from Clinton Foundation donor George Stephanopoulos she was in for a rude awakening.
The Democrat presidential front-runner appeared on “ABC’s This Week” on Sunday and the man who used to work for her husband’s administration grilled her about her private email scandal.
Stephanopoulos went over the inspector general’s report chastising her use of the server and asked her “Do you now accept their conclusion that your exclusive use of a personal account was not allowed, that you broke State Department rules?”
Clinton ran to her standby answer that previous secretaries of state had used private email but Stephanopoulos shot her down.
“No one else had exclusive use,” he said.
But the former first lady kept beating the drum of her canned response.
“You were the only one who had exclusive use of a personal account. Secretary Powell did have a personal e-mail account as well and they were very, very clear,” Stephanopoulos shot back.
A stammering Clinton said it was a mistake that she wouldn’t do again but the anchor continued holding her feet to the fire.
“So you don’t accept the conclusions of the report,” he said. “because they say you were unmindful of the rules.”
