Talk about a definitive statement.
A senior adviser for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign told CNN’s Kate Bolduan on Friday that likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wouldn’t tell the truth even if she was waterboarded.
“She stonewalled the [inspector general] and now everybody’s taking the fifth,” Barry Bennett said while commenting on Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state. “You could not get the truth out of Hillary if you waterboarded her.”
“What???” an incredulous Bolduan replied.
“You couldn’t get the truth out of Hillary if you waterboarded her,” the defiant Trump adviser repeated.
“And you brought in waterboarding,” the CNN host said with a hint of disgust.
For the record, the day after the Brussells terrorist attack, the presumptive GOP nominee advocated for a return to waterboarding… and worse.
“I’d go further. I’d listen to the military people, but I’d go further,” he said. “And by the way, torture works.”
