MSNBC and CNN teased throughout the day Tuesday about a telephone interview with Hillary Clinton during the 4:00 p.m. EST hour, but only one network delivered on the promise.
And it wasn’t the one that opted to “lean forward” in 2012 to help reelect Barack Obama.
CNN’S Jake Tapper won out over rival Chris Hayes, securing an interview with Clinton at 4:53 p.m. EST, leaving MSNBC to play second fiddle with a 5:07 p.m. EST interview, Daily Caller reported.
In response to being dissed by Clinton, MSNBC’s Chuch Todd would be forced to dis Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson and running mate William Weld, both former governors.
Todd was in the middle of what was billed as the Libertarian ticket’s first ever joint interview when Clinton finally found time for the network, prompting the MSNBC host to quickly jettison the pair.
“Governors,,” Todd said. “We’ve got more presidential candidates than we know what to do with today.”
Todd brought the Libertarian ticket back on air after Hayes finished up a 7-minute-plus interview with Clinton.
