A candidate for the Libertarian Party’s chairman position bared his assets on Sunday in an attempt to appeal to the party faithful in Orlando, Florida.

At such a pivotal time in American politics, there has never been a better opportunity for the Libertarian Party “to achieve major party status,” as the party’s newly appointed presidential nominee Gary Johnson said over the weekend, but instead the biggest news coming out of the party’s national convention is a large bearded man stripping naked on stage.

James Weeks passed on the traditional campaign speech at the convention, opting instead to strip down to a woefully small thong as he strutted and danced around on stage.

“I thought we could use a little bit of fun,” he told his fellow free-minded libertarians.

And while he was first greeted with applause, it didn’t take long for boos to start raining down on him — rightfully so. And if that weren’t bad enough, the entire spectacle was captured live by C-Span cameras.

On a more positive note, Weeks withdrew from the race for party chairman at the conclusion of his stunt, which he excused as a “dare.”

“Sorry, it was a dare,” he said. “I’m gonna go ahead and drop out.”

With the selection of Johnson as the party’s nominee, the Libertarian Party may realize the best support it’s ever seen in a presidential contest, according to recent polls.
