Marine Staff Sergeant Scooter Smith made a surprise appearance at his son Owen’s kindergarten graduation ceremony on Memorial Day weekend. This was following a 7-month overseas deployment — his fourth.

“Being home is always like heaven to me,” he told the Louisville Courier-Journal.

“He’s gonna glow,” Smith predicted of his son’s reaction when he makes his appearance. “I’m sure he will, he’s always so excited.”

And he did. When The Journal posted the video to its Facebook page, Stacy Munk Croghan commented, “We were blessed to be there. It was a very emotional reunion. Bless this family and THANK YOU! Jolenes mommy.”

See for yourself.
