CNN is getting hammered for a headline it ran Friday when it reported the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Steinle family after their daughter, Kate Steinle, was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant in San Francisco, a so-called sanctuary city.
The family alleged that the city’s policy to not deport those who have crossed our borders illegally led to her death by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez.
But CNN left a few crucial details out of its headline.
The network tweeted:

The most trusted name in news?
A headline can’t convey all the details, but CNN could have at least included the word “shooting” in front of “death” in its headline — just at a minimum.
