Actress Anne Hathaway meant to encourage her fans but found herself backtracking and removing an Instagram post for its unintended effect.
The 33-year-old actress had second thoughts after getting backlash for an internet meme she shared on her Instagram account that said, “In a world of Kardashians … Be a Helena Bonham Carter.” Social media users quickly attacked Hathaway, accusing her of disrespecting the Kardashians.

Hathaway, who stars with Carter in the new film “Alice Through the Looking Glass” took down the post and replaced it with another, offering her regret.
“Post removed for unintended shade thrown,” the new post read. “It never occurred to me I was pitting anyone against each other,” Hathaway added.
It never occurred to me I was pitting anyone against each other. Not my style. Peace x

Interestingly, reaction to her new post was mixed as some applauded her apology and others called the actress out for taking it down.
“Childish to remove it, can’t people joke anymore?” asked one Instagram user. “But that deleted post is why I adore you!” said another. “NOOOO! I like the first post better.”
