Fox News host Megyn Kelly felt it was important to reach out to Donald Trump after the eight-month feud between the two since the first Republican presidential debate in August, which she co-moderated.

And the result was a one-on-one interview with the presumptive GOP nominee, that is scheduled to air primetime Tuesday on the Fox Broadcast Network.

To promote the big event, “The Kelly File” host has been making the round of talk shows, including NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”

Kelly said she made multiple attempts to meet with the candidate at Trump Tower before he finally agreed.

“I wanted him to stop, and I knew if I could get face-to-face with him he would stop,” she told Fallon.

“I didn’t ask him about any of the tweets or any of the things he said, because I was looking to move past that. You know, I didn’t want to go to the acrimonious place. So we had a normal conversation like candidate and reporter,” she explained. “Then we sat down together for an interview and in that interview we do talk about what happened.”

In a short teaser clip taken from the interview, Kelly asked Trump if “it’s a journalist’s role to be ‘nice’ to candidates at a presidential debate.”

When he responded that they should be “fair,” she said he specifically used the word “nice,” adding that, “You know, it’s not a cocktail party.”

Then Trump made a humbling admission.

“I’ll tell you what, in a certain way what you did might have been a favor,” he told her. “Because I felt so good about having gotten through — I said if I can get through this debate with those questions, you can get through anything.”
