George Zimmerman stands to make a lot of money from the sale of the handgun he used to kill Trayvon Martin once the auction website weeds through all the fake bidders.
But the name of one bidder really stands out, as does his bid — “Racist McShootface” put in a bid for $65 million.
It’s a fake bid for the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun Zimmerman called “a piece of American History” in the item description, but the name it was placed under seemed to capture how many see the man who killed the black teen.
TMZ reported the real bid was at $415,000, noting that the website that listed the pistol is “using software to sift through the BS offers.”
Zimmerman’s ill-advised decision to sell the gun got off to a rocky start on Thursday when the first site, GunBroker.com, pulled the auction down, saying it wanted “no part in the listing on our website or in any of the publicity it is receiving,” according to the Chicago Tribune.
A second website, United Gun Group, then agreed to host the auction. A decision they would later defend on social media after coming under heavy fire:
FYI, United Gun Group is a free service, we are not being compensated for allowing members to utilize our system.

By Friday morning, United Gun Group, which refers to itself as a “social market place for the firearms community,” had pulled the post, IJ Review reported.
