Not long after being sworn in as London’s first Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan had a warning for Donald Trump.
Trump told the New York Times that Kahn’s election could be “very, very good” and that he was happy to see him elected.
He also explained that “there will always be exceptions” to a ban on Muslims and that Mayor Kahn would be one of them.
But that wasn’t enough for Kahn who lashed out at the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
“This isn’t just about me – it’s about my friends, my family and everyone who comes from a background similar to mine, anywhere in the world,” Kahn said.
He added that Trump’s view of Islam could result in violence.
“Donald Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both of our countries less safe – it risks alienating mainstream Muslims around the world and plays into the hands of extremists.
“Donald Trump and those around him think that Western liberal values are incompatible with mainstream Islam – London has proved him wrong.”
What Kahn is essentially saying is Trump’s “ignorant view” of Muslims could result in said Muslims engaging in violence because they feel insulted.
Then how would that make Trump’s view of Islam “ignorant?’
It sounds more like it would prove him correct.
