The world is truly upside down.
We’ve let society devolve to the point where police are conducting terror drills inside busy shopping malls. As if that reality isn’t sad enough, those drills must also follow the dictates of political correctness.
Police in Manchester, England are apologizing after a man playing a Muslim suicide bomber stormed a mall yelling “Allahu Akbar.”
The video clip shows an intense scene, where the yelling man appears to be holding weapons before a small explosion ignites and sends people running.
When news of the drill spread it didn’t spark discussion about the fact that terror attacks have become so commonplace that we’ve come to a point where we believe we ought to expect them. Instead, people were mad that the simulated attack was offensive because of what the “bomber” was yelling.
This sort of thing panders to stereotypes and further divides us. It will increase anti-Muslim hate crime. https://t.co/DHeTiU1oVT

Not everyone thought the drill was out of line:

@CSFUK It is not a stereotype, this is how most terrorists behave. If you don’t like that, you should blame them, not the police.

Even with a healthy dose of supporters, the Manchester Police caved and issued an apologetic statement, The Telegraph reported:
“For the past 24 hours GMP, along with other agencies has been hosting a counter terrorism training exercise based at the Trafford Centre which began with a mock suicide bomber detonating a bomb outside the shopping centre.
“It is necessary for agencies including the police to train and prepare using exercises such as this so that we would be in the best possible position to respond in the event that the unthinkable happened and an attack took place.
“The scenario for this exercise is based on a suicide attack by extremist Daesh style organization and the scenario writers have centered the circumstances around previous similar attacks of this nature, mirroring details of past events to make the situation as real life as possible for all of those involved.
“However, on reflection we acknowledge that it was unacceptable to use this religious phrase immediately before the mock suicide bombing, which so vocally linked this exercise to Islam. We recognize and apologize for the offence this has caused.”
Assistant Chief Constable with the GMP, took a beating for the apology:
