Editor’s Note: BizPac Review incorrectly stated, based on a report from the Observer, that James Simons had given millions to Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign. While Renaissance Technologies President Bob Mercer has given to the Cruz campaign, Simons has never contributed to the Texas Senator. The post and headline has been modified to reflect the facts.
Well-connected donors are doing anything they can to stop Donald Trump.
Hedge fund President of Renaissance Technologies Bob Mercer previously contributed over $13 million to Cruz’s failed presidential bid.
Despite Mercer’s mega-donations to the Cruz campaign, Renaissance Technologies Founder James Simons is now pouring millions into Clinton’s campaign, according to an update report from the Observer.
Already, Renaissance Technologies via Simons has donated $2 million to Clinton’s campaign, which is unsurprising considering Simons has long been a Democrat donor. And Simons’ other company, Euclidean Capital, has given Clinton $7 million thus far.
Over 60 Clinton donors were once funding former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s failed presidential bid. Clinton is seeking more establishment Republican donors from the Bush family, even forming a ‘Republicans for Hillary’ effort.
