Putting things into perspective, a Target shopping mom took to Facebook this week to call attention to something the nation’s second largest retailer is doing BESIDES allowing transgender customers to use whichever bathroom or fitting room they prefer.
Saying “this should’ve been a big story,” Rebecca Bell wrote that she “would like to interrupt the ‘pissing match’ over Target’s bathroom policy to freak out about something else they’ve done recently.”
“This.
“Starting in March 2016, Target stores supplied every one of their 1,793 locations, nationwide, with at least one Caroline’s Cart.”
Caroline’s Cart is a shopping cart with an extra-large, forward-facing seat created for special needs children — it’s named after Caroline, the special needs daughter of Drew Ann and David Long, who first came up with the idea.
“Target, I’m sorry that all the silly negativity surrounding your toilets has caused this awesomeness to be overlooked,” the Utah mom wrote on Facebook. “This should’ve been a big story. This should’ve made the news.”
Bell explained just how big.
“This is a game-changer for families like mine,” she added. “It means I can shop without having to push a cart and pull a wheelchair. It means my little girl can participate in one more aspect of life.”
“We are beyond excited about it. #thankyoutarget for continuing to show acceptance of EVERYONE.”
