Talk about a lucky dog.
A Jack Russell terrier wearing a life vest was found bobbing in the Gulf of Mexico by two couples boating off the coast of Hernando Beach, Florida, on Sunday, Fox 13 reported.
“You just saw his little nose sticking up out of the water,” Shawn Sahr told Fox 13.
Shawn’s husband Michael Sahr pulled the dog out of the water. They soon learned after radioing the Coast Guard that the pooch was reported to have gone overboard three hours earlier.
“It’s like a needle in a haystack and the waves were pretty choppy,” Michael told Fox 13.
“If we weren’t as close as we were, within five to 10 feet, we wouldn’t have seen him,” Shawn added.
The dog, whose name is Jägermeister, was reunited with its owner after it was brought to a Coast Guard station.
