Conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh has issued a dire warning about what would happen is Sen. Ted Cruz snatched the Republican presidential nomination from Donald Trump at the GOP convention.

Supposing that the Ted Cruz and John Kasich alliance to stop Trump was successful and Cruz won on a subsequent ballot? It would be the “end of the Republican Party,” Limbaugh said on his syndicated show.

“If that ever happens, we are gonna see a nuclear explosion like you’ve never seen before,” Limbaugh said.

“Holy smokes! The blowback that will happen then, the backlash? That will be the end of the Republican Party,” he added.

Limbaugh acknowledged that such a scenario is the only chance Cruz has to get the nomination but he warned it could lead to literal riots.

“It might make the Watts and Rodney Riots look like Romper Room when it was all over,” he said.

But Limbaugh, who has remained neutral during the primary, took issue with Trump comparing the Cruz and Kasich alliance to criminal collusion.

“I can’t let that go by!” Limbaugh argued. “Am I just supposed to sit here and ignore that?!… There is no criminal enterprise here!”

“I guess you can never co-sponsor legislation again because you’re colluding.” he said mockingly.
