After Donald Trump’s victory in New York’s primary election Tuesday, radio host Laura Ingraham said there is only one question that needs to be asked.
The discussion over whether the GOP front-runner will get the coveted 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination is not the issue, Ingraham noted on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Tuesday.
“Unless something wacky happens over the next four to six weeks,” Ingraham said, Trump will enter the Republican National Convention in July with the most delegates and the most votes.
“The only question is, how far will the Republican establishment go to kill off this guy who is the most popular of all the other candidates?” she asked, adding that she was only offering analysis, “not an endorsement of Trump.”
Ingraham pointed out that the Party elites are calling out Trump for the negative tone of his campaign rhetoric but are guilty of the same, with reports that Trump staffers were being blacklisted if they ever try to work in political circles again.
“Who has the bad tone now? Is it Trump?” Ingraham said, “or is it the GOP establishment that seems like it’s pulling out every stop to try to stop him from getting this nomination.”
The GOP’s actions have set them on a “perilous course,” Ingraham warned. “They’ll lose it all” if their plans backfire and lead to a win for Democrat Hillary Clinton.
“I know all the ‘never-Trumpers’ feel they’re clean and they’re pure,” she said, “but if the majority of Americans and most delegates of the whole group goes to the guy who doesn’t get the nomination, I don’t see how this is going to end up well for the Republicans.”
“If this were anyone else but Trump right now,” Ingraham said, “we would be seeing a coronation over at Capitol Hill at the RNC headquarters.”
