At the end of her show Monday, Greta Van Susteren argued Monday’s filing deadline for taxes is a yearly reminder that the government wants the American people’s money but “doesn’t give a damn about waste and fraud, it’s just “gimmie, gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.”
“And you aren’t the only one,” Van Susteren said during the final segment of On The Record Monday before pointing out a tweet sent by former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld:
At 83, I am close to losing hope that I will live to see a flat tax.

“At age 83? He could send that at age 33 and have the same result: none,” Van Susteren said.
I don’t know about a flat tax, whether it’s a good idea for America or not, but I do know one thing: the current tax code doles out hundreds of billions of dollars through loopholes and special deals to special people. People who have lobbyists who wads of dough in their pockets to schmooze all of Washington. They all get special deals, but not you.
You and I both know Congress doesn’t give a damn about fixing the tax code, it’s just ‘gimmie, gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.’ And President Obama? He doesn’t give a damn either, because if he did he would’ve done something. He’s been in the White House for seven and a half years. He’s done nothing about that tax code.
“Instead, he’s asking for a raise,” she added. “Yes, the president’s budget calls for an 18 percent increase in spending on former presidents. That’s money President Obama will get once he’s out of office in January. It’s just, ‘gimmie, gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.’”
