Roughing up political protesters and journalists might be par for the course in the Middle East but it doesn’t fly in America.

Security for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan learned that the hard way via a public scolding by a U.S. Secret Service agent on Thursday in Washington, D.C., where Erdogan was on hand for a nuclear summit with world leaders.

The Turkish president was met by protesters critical of him. His bodyguards were caught on camera ripping up anti-Erdogan signs.

Some journalists also reported being pushed and kicked, the Daily Mail reported.

A Secret Service agent swooped in and schooled Erdogan’s tough guys.

“This is America!” the agent shouted. “Act like an adult, stay on this side of the road. End of story. By going over there and flipping the bird you’re causing more problems for me, and for your protection.”
