Black Lives Matter protesters burned an American flag Wednesday night after the announcement that no officers would be charged in the death of Jamar Clark. The flag burning was not well received by some of the other protesters who stuck to signs and chants that justice prevail for Clark.

Hennepin County attorney Mike Freeman said Wednesday that DNA evidence verified the cops’ claim that Clark had his hand on the officer’s gun during the struggle that led to Clark’s death.
The shooting occurred when police responded to a report of an assault just before 1 a.m. in November. Police say when they arrived, Clark was interfering with paramedics who were treating his girlfriend who had been assaulted.
There was a struggle and Clark ignored repeated commands to comply, telling police “I’m ready to die,” according to Freeman. An officer fired one fatal shot to Clark’s head.
Some protestors of the death say the black 24-year-old was unarmed and handcuffed when fatally shot. There have been marches in the streets and protests blocking police facilities since Nov. 15. The death has become a rallying point for the Black Lives Matter movement, which decried the Wednesday announcement.
Protesters took to the streets as police came out in force in case the protests turned violent.
