Donald Trump slammed President Obama’s call for the U.S. to be more open to refugees in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attack in Brussels.

The Republican presidential candidate said he couldn’t believe that Obama was calling for “open borders” in his weekly address to the nation on Saturday, calling it “inconceivable” that a president would do so following the attack last week that left 35 people dead, including four Americans.

“You would almost say it’s disgraceful,” Trump said on “Fox and Friends” on Monday. “You can’t even imagine that a man could make those statements, especially a president of this country.”

The necessity of border security, Trump said, is even more clear after the events that have been occurring over the last few months. “It’s just insane what this man is saying,” Trump added, noting the impossible task for immigration officials to know who the mostly Middle Eastern refugees are and where they are coming from.

“In terms of security, this open-door policy is catastrophic,” the GOP front-runner said. “This could lead to the downfall of the greatest nation on Earth.”

Social media users seemed to be in agreement with Trump by voicing outrage against the president’s remarks in their comments.
