In the aftermath of the horrific attacks in Brussels, President Obama called for Americans to lead by “example” in being more open to the acceptance of Syrian refugees.
“As we move forward in this fight, we have to wield another weapon alongside our airstrikes, our military, and our counterterrorism work, and our diplomacy. And that’s the power of our example,” he remarked during his weekly address Saturday.
“Our openness to refugees fleeing ISIL’s violence, our determination to win the battle against ISIL’s hateful and violent propaganda, a distorted view of Islam that aims to radicalize young Muslims to their cause…”
In short, rather than learning a lesson from the Brussels attack and the earlier one in Paris, the president wants to plow right ahead as planned.
Obama’s remarks drew stiff criticism from “Fox & Friends Weekend” host Tucker Carlson.
He observed that with a lifetime of Secret Service protection he won’t bear any of the consequences.
“Who’s going to live with the consequences of that?” Carlson asked.
“He’ll never face the consequences of this, and yet the rest of us will.”
