Donald Trump believes that if more advanced interrogation techniques had been used on Paris terror suspect Salah Abdeslam when he was captured last week, the terror attacks in Belgium might have been prevented.
“If they would have put him through the grill ten minutes after they captured him, he probably would have ratted them out and maybe stopped this horrible terror attack that took place today,” Trump said on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Tuesday.
Calling Abdeslam a “lowlife,” the GOP front-runner said if he had been “put through the wringer” with techniques “beyond waterboarding,” the tragedy in Brussels may have been averted.
“We’re not fighting on the same playing field. The problem is we don’t fight on the same level,” Trump said.
“We have laws that protect everybody. You know, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, don’t touch him, don’t hurt him. In the meantime they go around killing people. They have no laws. We have the laws to protect them. It’s absolutely crazy.”
