No gotcha questions for the Clinton campaign — not from MSNBC at any rate.
During a post-debate interview, MSNBC reporter Kristen Welker apparently hadn’t a clue that she was on live TV when she told a Clinton aide what she’d be asking.
When MSNBC’s chief legal correspondent Ari Melber, who was manning the news desk, turned the segment over to Walker, the reporter was in the midst of telling Clinton communications director Jen Palmieri that she would be asking her about the lead-tainted water supply in Flint, Michigan.
Flint was both the debate venue and a subject of the debate.
“And I’m going to ask you about Flint,” Welker instructed Palmieri.
“Kristen, go ahead, you’re live,” Melber said. “You know, we have Kristen Welker. We’re looking at her. She couldn’t quite hear me before. Can you hear me now? If you can, go ahead.”
Eventually, Walker got the message and began the interview.
“So Jen, your initial reaction to tonight’s debate? Very fiery,” Welker said.
