Romney to deliver big speech about 2016 presidential race – buzz begins

By: Rachel Stoltzfoos DC-NEWS 300X71

Former Gov. Mitt Romney will give a speech Thursday morning on the state of the 2016 presidential race, in what some are speculating could be part of a last-ditch establishment plan to defeat Donald Trump.

Romney will address “the state of the 2016 presidential race,” he announced in a media advisory Wednesday, following big wins for Trump in Tuesday’s primary races. He’s scheduled to give a speech at the University of Utah at 11:30 a.m. EST.

“On Thursday, March 3rd, former governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney will address the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah on the state of the 2016 race,” the advisory reads.

The failed Republican presidential candidate may simply weigh in on the race, but some are speculating he’ll endorse one of the remaining candidates or make a case for the party to unify around an anti-Trump option. Or maybe he’ll throw his hat back into the presidential ring.

After he opted early last year not to run again, he told Yahoo’s Katie Couric it just didn’t feel “right” at the time. “Somehow, it just didn’t feel like this was the right time for us to step forward,” he said at the time. “I would love to be president. I just concluded I was not the best person to carry forward the Republican torch.”

Republican leaders are scrambling after Trump piled up victories Tuesday in seven states, including Alabama and Massachusetts, and seems poised to nab the nomination. His closest rivals, Republican senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, each have reasonable arguments for staying in the race, making it harder for the party to rally around an anti-Trump candidate.

Romney needs to go back under the rock he crawled out from under…. Too bad he didn’t fight this hard when he ran, he might have won. But he was content to let himself be told what to do, what to say, when to say it. By the same people who are so very afraid of Trump actually getting in office. Afraid because they know that life as they know it, full of fun percs and an easy life, would come to a crashing halt.

Why don’t they just shut up and concentrate on running the house and senate? After all, that’s what controls whoever is president.

    1. Glen Corona says:

They don`t know how. All they`re worried about is themselves and their Tax Payer paid pay checks and benefits. .

      1. Perley J. Thibodeau says:

It used to be the Republicans who were told who to vote for, and they did. Now it’s the Democrats who are told who to vote for, and they do.

Romney would still be the best candidate of all of them.

  5. A P says:

Mitt Romney……….YOU HAD your chance! Now, did you get offers to line your pockets with this? REPUBLICAN Leaders are trying to preserve their payoffs, their luxurious way of life, their lobbyists, and the whole greasy wheel! They DO NOT care about the American people and what the American people want!

  6. Vee_Kay says:

IT had better be to endorse TRUMP!

  7. SusieQ says:

Mittens should walk his little little tiny steps back to his mansion and leave the process of picking a president to the people.

As for the rest of the spoilers who have goaded him on to do this you should resign. I hope we find out all their names.

  8. tsigili says:

A total failed candidate wants to deliver a tirade against the winning candidate, to stop him from winning. Guess the GOP is determined to allow Hillary to win the election, just as they allowed Obama to win last time, by forcing Romney down the throats of the voters, as the best they had to offer.

No one should pay any attention to Romney at all. He has made the most outrageous comments and has been totally, anti-conservative.
