Beauty mag mistakes Oprah for Whoopi in Oscar tweet and white-bashing goes into overdrive

At Sunday’s Oscars a beauty magazine mistook actress Whoopi Goldberg for Oprah Winfrey and social media went wild.

What would have been a comical mistake if two people of any other race were misidentified became a cry of racism when the two black superstars were mixed up.

Despite the fact that the picture of Whoopi Goldberg DID resemble Oprah Winfrey on the red carpet the magazine that tweeted the snafu apologized.

Oprah Whoopi
Oprah herself responded to it by laughing it off as she flashed a puzzled face in a picture her best friend Gayle King posted to Instagram with the caption that read, in part, “we don’t all look alike Jeeeze!”

But on social media it was taken very seriously and used it as another opportunity, of many, to bash white people at the Academy Awards.
