Is this a preview of the Republican presidential ticket?
On Friday, a day after the most vicious debate of this political season, Donald Trump unveiled his latest blockbuster endorsement in the form of N.J. Gov. Chris Christie.
Christie, who ran for president himself, had nothing but glowing praise for the Republican presidential front-runner.
“I am proud to be here to endorse Donald Trump for president of the United States,” he said at a press conference as he stood beside Trump. “I absolutely appreciate him as a person and as a friend.”
The N.J. governor explained that he and Trump have had a decade long friendship and he believes the billionaire businessman is “the clear standout, and the person who will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again.”
He also took a shot at Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
“Senator Rubio has shown himself over the course of time to be wholly unprepared to be president of the United States.”
But he quickly turned to continuing his laudation of Trump.
“He’ll provide strong, unequivocal leadership, he will do what needs to be done to protect the American people first and foremost, both in the homeland and in creating jobs for this country, and he will make sure that people around the world know that America keeps its word again,” he said. “Donald Trump is someone, who when he makes a promise, he keeps it.”
Christie said Trump is the person to defeat the Democrats because “They do not know the playbook with Donald Trump because he is rewriting the playbook.”
