The last thing the NFL needs is another domestic violence incident involving one of its players; but what if the player wasn’t actually involved in the violence?
At best a cad, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler was captured on a surveillance camera watching his girlfriend and the mother of his child duke it out, TMZ reported.
In the video, recorded on February 1, six days before Super Bowl 50, Fowler is seen watching as two women go at it. Just before the brawl begins, Fowler appeared to direct one of the women to attack the other.
The player then watched the ensuing fight for several moments before eventually pulling one off the other.
Naturally, Fowler issued a statement expressing his remorse after the video surfaced.
“I am embarrassed and have apologized for my actions to everyone involved,” he said, according to TMZ.
“As a family, we have been dealing with this moment and the conflict that led to it since this occurred,” Fowler added. “The video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happened.”
