Fox News hosts come down hard on Apple: ‘Phony’ CEO would rather sell phones to terrorists, give ISIS victory

Apple CEO Tim Cook’s decision not to cooperate with the FBI’s investigation by unlocking the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino terrorists may be seen by Cook as a win for the First Amendment, but more than one Fox News contributor/host sees it as a “victory” for terrorists.

A Fox News guest attributed Cook’s motives as being far less lofty than protecting privacy rights — it was all about selling more phones to bad guys.

On “The Five” Wednesday, co-host and former San Francisco prosecutor Kimberly Guilfoyle was outraged by the Apple CEO’s decision.

“This is like a victory for ISIS,” she said, after co-host Dana Perino asked, “Don’t the victims’ families of the San Bernardino attack deserve a little bit more?”

“What team are you playing on?” she asked Apple.

Geraldo Rivera disagreed.

“Our government cannot be trusted to safeguard peoples’ privacy.”

The issue was later addressed on the network during “Hannity.”

Host Sean Hannity said turning over the information is “common sense,” and “the fact that they fight this makes no sense.”

Guest Lt. Col. Ralph Peters agreed.

“Tim Cook is a complete phony,” he said. “This is not about privacy rights of law-abiding Americans. This is about Apple selling a lot of iPhones to really, really bad people around the world. And Tim Cook doesn’t want Apple to have a reputation” of cooperating with federal law enforcement authorities.
