Despite months of defending the nuclear deal with Iran, it seems the White House had always expected that money would be used to fund terrorism worldwide.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said it was a “logical conclusion that a nation that supports terrorism may use some of the money that’s coming into the country to further support terrorism.”
Earnest claimed that the administration has been “candid” about the possibility that sanctions relief funds to Iran could end up funding terror activities. But, he said, Iran’s “long-standing support of terrorism is what motivated us to prevent them from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”
