Nearing the end of an extended vacation, HBO’s most infamous talk-show host is getting ready to recharge his “Real Time with Bill Maher” show and dive straight into election season madness, and there’s one GOP candidate who’s making him particularly nervous.
Bill Maher was interviewed by the Daily Beast’s Marlow Stern where he mainly repeated the same old mantra of Obama walking on water and Republicans despise him because they are a bunch old, racist relics.
Deep within the interview, however, Maher revealed exactly which Republican he thinks is the worst offender – Texas Senator and presidential contender Ted Cruz.
Apparently, the Tea Party candidate is making the liberal show-host very nervous. Here’s what Maher had to say about him:
Ted Cruz is scarier than Donald Trump. Because I think Donald Trump, despite some of the crazy things he says and some of the disgusting things he says, he also says some things that a liberal can love, Maher started.
Maher went on to say he believes Trump can be “turned around on some issues” mainly because of what some consider a liberal-leaning stance on the Iraq war and wanting to stay out of the Middle East.
But Maher wasn’t done lamenting about Cruz. After Stern brought up the Texas Senator’s impressive resume, which includes Constitutional law and a Harvard and Princeton education, Maher gulped.
It’s high intelligence in the service of evil,” Maher said. “It’s one thing to have evil people who aren’t that bright!”
There’s a reason why everyone hates Ted Cruz. There’s a reason why the big question about Ted Cruz is always, “When he shaves in the morning, how does he avoid spitting in the mirror?” To think of this guy being the president of the United States, this ambition and love of power combined with being on the wrong side of every issue, it’s a very scary prospect.
What should be an even scarier prospect for Maher is that not “everyone hates” Cruz: which should be obvious since he’s the only candidate able to lick the heels of the GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
Combining Cruz’s ambition and love of country, and being on the right side of countless issues, makes him a very promising prospect indeed.
