‘No s**t’; Trump campaign bluntly responds to ‘pants on fire’ immigration ad rating

When fact-checkers found what they thought was a glaring error in Republican presidential contender Donald Trump’s first campaign ad Monday, his campaign staff said “no s**t,” adding that they missed the point of the message.

The ad focused on Islamic terrorism and illegal immigration, which surprised no one. It included grainy footage depicting a swarm of individuals making illegal border crossings, while a voiceover says, “he’ll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”

Almost from the moment the Trump campaign released the ad, PolitiFact gave it it’s “Pants On Fire” rating, pointing out that the footage was actually shot in Morocco. They tweeted:

When NBC News contacted the Trump staff with the discrepancy, campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told them that it wasn’t a mistake.

“No s**t it’s not the Mexican border, but that’s what our country is going to look like,” he said. “This was 1,000% on purpose.”

Alex Romano from CBS News reported that the campaign released this statement:

The use of this footage was intentional and selected to demonstrate the severe impact of an open border and the very real threat Americans face if we do not immediately build a wall and stop illegal immigration. The biased mainstream media doesn’t understand, but Americans who want to protect their jobs and their families do.

Here’s the ad.
