Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to Obama: ‘Come and take it’

After President Obama indicated his intention to issue more gun control executive actions, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a 25-century-old challenge to the president — come and take it.

The president indicated in his weekly address this week that he would be meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to work out executive actions on “reasonable” gun control executive actions due to the inaction of Congress on the subject.

“The gun lobby is loud and well-organized in its defense of effortlessly available guns for anyone,” Obama said in his address. “The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well-organized in our defense of our kids.”

Abbott, a Republican and former Texas attorney general, fired back in this tweet:

Other proud Texans stood with Abbott on the issue.

And for that very reason — that Texas was a separate country before becoming a state — some legal analysts have concluded that it has the power to secede from the Union also.

Jan. 1 also marked the day that open carry became legal in Texas.

“Come and take it,” or “come and take them” is the response the Spartan soldiers gave to the Persians at Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.

When the Spartans were down to about 300, versus Persia’s more than 100,000, the Persian’s demanded that the Spartans surrender and throw out their weapons. The Spartans replied, “Come and take them.”

Here’s Obama’s address, via the White House. He begins talking about gun control at about the 1:20 mark.

God bless Abbott and the second amendment

There is no other way to put it: The President of the United States is a lying piece of filth.

He clearly means to communicate to Obama that NO state personnel or money will be expended on yet another unconstitutional federal mandate. A federal gov’t that supposedly has to waive border enforcement because it has so much other more important things to do, can expect ZERO state assistance for this nonsense.

What we need to do now is not just celebrate States dragging their feet against federal craziness, but increase the actual process of undermining unconstitutional Federal encroachment and NOT merely by just filing lawsuits.

With increasingly few exceptions, we’re seeing that federal judges are decreaessingly disposed to rule against federal authority. The cure for English domination for the Colonies didn’t come from the House of Commons … nor will it come from the House of Representatives!!

About 20 million armed Texans stand with him and nine million are licensed to carry, concealed or open nowadays.
