Obama stuns Dems with deportation raid plans for immigrants, Trump takes credit

Plans for hundreds of deportation raids by the Obama administration were leaked Christmas Eve, stunning Democratic candidates and leading to questions of the leak’s curious timing.

Geraldo Rivera tweeted that the planned raids, which reportedly do not have final approval, to deport Central American illegals “makes me sick.”

The Department of Homeland Security has begun preparing for raids against hundreds of families who entered the U.S. illegally and have ignored an immigration judge’s order to leave the country, Fox News reported Friday.

Fox News contributor Rivera joined Democratic candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley in condemning the plan. Even Hillary Clinton‘s campaign expressed “real concerns” about the Obama administration’s plans.

Even with the raids, the Obama administration reported that after a four-year decline, 2015 deportation numbers are the lowest since 2006.

GOP candidate Donald Trump took credit and came close to praising U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for finally acting “because of the pressure put on by me.”

Given Obama’s foot-dragging on enforcing our immigration laws, the timing of the leak to the liberal lapdog Washington Post raises the question of what does the administration hope to accomplish with this news? Are the raids really going to happen, or is this simply more political spin?

On social media, Twitter users couldn’t stomach Rivera’s outrage.
