AT&T turns advertising on its ear with this exclusive Christmas day ad

Telecommunications giant AT&T is running a smart ad during Christmas that goes against the grain of what ads are about.

The company is telling viewers to put the phones down.

The 60-second spot features a teenage girl engaged with her family in typical holiday activities, except she is forever distracted by her smart phone… to the dismay of dad, who can’t help but notice.

But apparently the daughter noticed too, because she is then seen wrapping a present for dad. When he opens the gift, he finds her phone inside.

“This season, give the present of being present,” a young girl’s voice is then heard saying.

AT&T pulled all retail ads for Dec. 24 and 25 and will air the touching ad — titled “Present” — exclusively, according to AdWeek.

Smart move.
