President Obama‘s golf game is in the news. As Obama takes his annual Christmas family vacation in Hawaii, GOP candidate Donald Trump got the liberal media spinning when he said Obama played “more golf last year than Tiger Woods.
Trump made his remarks Monday at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“It was reported today he played 250 rounds of golf and he’s going to be in Hawaii, I think did they say for three weeks?” the New York real estate mogul said. “Two hundred and fifty rounds, that’s more than a guy who plays in the PGA Tour plays. He played more golf last year than Tiger Woods. We don’t have time for this. We have to work.”
Golf Magazine reported Tuesday that Trump’s claim is true: Obama is closing in on 250 rounds of golf, while Woods only played 34 competitive rounds in 2015.
But the liberal Washington Post tried to spin Trump’s statement, noting that Trump owns 17 golf courses, and calling the claim about Woods “unclear.” They couldn’t argue, however, with Obama’s penchant for the links.
Perhaps that’s the reason the media is so dazzled with the president’s favorite activity, gushing like schoolgirls when Obama sinks a long putt in Hawaii.
But Trump doesn’t play much golf. “I don’t have time for that. I love golf, I think it’s one of the greats, but I don’t have time,” he said.
The newspaper responded by, of course, blaming President George W. Bush, pointing out that Obama has taken less vacation overall than his predecessor.
It’s been nearly 8 years since Bush was president. Can’t the media find anything better to blame?
