Gun shop comes up with a brilliant strategy using Obama to drive gun sales

A South Carolina gun shop has come up with a sure-fire way to drive sales.

The brilliant marketing strategy is a simple message on the sign in front of the business: “Want to piss off Obama? Buy a gun!

The owner of Simpsonville Gun and Pawn, Mark Teal, admitted he was prompted in part by President Obama’s call for more stringent gun control laws during Sunday’s Oval Office address.

“It’s mainly just to sell guns, but there’s a little bit of political connotation to it also,” Teal told WSPA‑TV.

The more Obama speaks on gun control, the more gun sales rise. Some are quick to suggest that the president is the best salesman ever for firearms.

“Fear of gun-buying restrictions has been the main driver of spikes in gun sales,” according to The New York Times, “far surpassing the effects of mass shootings and terrorist attacks alone.” A conclusion the newspaper reached after analyzing federal background-check data.

A chart published by The Times reflects the extend that gun sales have exploded during Obama’s presidency:

Teal also noted the double standard at play when it comes to Obama and his aversion for guns.

“I just think it’s strange that he has 24 hour security, his children and wife have 24 hour security with armed guards everywhere they go,” the owner said. “It’s ok for them to have armed guards, but it’s not ok for us to protect ourselves.”
