Controversial Hillary Clinton confidant and log time aide Huma Abedin has seized the recent Donald Trump controversy to shill for donations to the Clinton campaign.
In an email sent to Clinton supporters Abedin, who is married to disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, called herself a “proud Muslim” as she lashed out at Trump’s call to temporarily ban Muslim immigration.
“Trump wants to literally write racism into our law books,” she wrote although it is worth noting that Muslim is not a race.
“His Islamophobia doesn’t reflect our nation’s values — it goes far enough to damage our country’s reputation and could even threaten our national security,” she wrote. “Unfortunately, Trump is leaning into the kind of fear of progress that very well could help him win the nomination. We have to be ready to stop him.”
Clinton’s choice of using Abedin to campaign for votes based on her Muslim faith is, however, peculiar as her checkered history has been the subject of much scrutiny.
Abedin was investigated for a side job she had at a company with political ties while still working for Clinton.
She had also been the subject of a criminal conduct investigation for alleged overpayments she received while working for Clinton.
Not the representative Clinton or “proud Muslims” should want to hang their hats on.
