Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup FAIL at Christmas trees gets attention in worst way possible

Disappointed customers who purchased a holiday version of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are turning to social media to express their dissatisfaction.

While the effort was designed to take advantage of the Christmas season, it’s unlikely the ridicule that has befallen the manufacturer, the Hershey Company, is what the marketing folks intended.

Especially when some consumers are comparing their product to “turds.”

The creamy peanut butter and milk chocolate holiday treat is advertised as being shaped like Christmas trees, but comes closer to resembling … well, an amorphous blob, according to the Huffington Post.

Either way, the campaign put Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the news … here’s a sampling of complaints from Twitter. You would think after a few years Hershey might get the hint:

According to CNN, this is not the first time Hershey has dealt with the issue of its candy not matching an advertised shape.
