The word soon went viral, earning both airtime on local and national news outlets.

Fox and Shelton appeared on “Fox and Friends Weekend” on Saturday, where Fox shared that the secret to his accomplishment was “just hard work” and believing in himself.

Shelton, who described Fox as a “super bright young man,” said he never doubted the 4th-grader could do it.

“I had no doubt in him, to be honest with you.”

After posting on Facebook, Shelton continued to update his page with appearances and news that featured the story. He even invited others to take up the challenge.

“This is NOT about me @ all, it’s a ‪#‎Challenge‬ to encourage others to reach our kids/youth & encourage them in their studies.”
