German police chief warns ISIS among refugees; Senate Dems likely to filibuster stricter vetting anyway

A German chief of police is saying what opponents of President Obama’s plan to accept Syrian refugees have been saying all along: among the numbers of Europe’s genuine asylum seekers are Islamic State militants — nearly 8,000 of them.

This comes on the heels of the November 13 attack by Islamic State militants — at least two of whom managed to slip into the country posing as refugees.

The Associated Press reported:

Asenior German police official says some of the migrants reaching Europe are Islamic State radicals planning terrorist attacks, but the refugee influx is not systemically used by extremists to bring members into the EU.

The Austria Press Agency cited German federal police chief Hans-Georg Maasen as saying that some who blend in with the migrants fought with IS and are planning a “combat mission” once they arrive in Europe. He said Thursday that his office knows of 7,900 Islamic radicals in Germany who advocate violence to advance their goals, with some trying to win migrants to their cause.

He said German authorities receive one or two “fairly concrete tips” a week of planned terrorist activity. And he described IS extremists as “combat-hardened professionals” more dangerous than those from al-Qaida

Folks on social media weren’t at all surprised.

Canada has recently decided to limit refugees to only women, children and families. No single males will be allowed in. This gave one British Columbia resident some measure of relief — but he was soon corrected.

On November 19, all but two Republicans were joined by 47 Democrats in a House bill that would require more stringent vetting procedures for Syrian and Iraqi immigrants seeking asylum.

The vote was 289-137. The GOP House members who voted nay were Reps. Walter Jones of North Carolina and Steve King of Iowa.

Senate Minority Harry Reid, however, vowed to filibuster the measure if and when it was brought up on the Senate floor — and it looks as though he has the votes to do it.
