‘From Russia with Love’: Putin sends adorable puppy to replace SWAT dog killed in Paris raid

For many, a display of solidarity from the Russian government toward the people of France is befitting of the name of the early James Bond film, “From Russia with Love.”

Russia’s Interior Ministry responded to the death of Diesel, a seven-year-old Belgian shepherd, who died during the raid of an apartment in Saint-Denis in the days following the bloody Paris attack, by donating a German Shepard puppy to fill the ranks.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the mastermind behind the bloody Paris attack, was killed in the raid.

Russian interior ministry spokeswoman Elena Alekseyeva posted on Instagram that “the puppy will be sent to France as a sign of solidarity with the French people and police fighting against terrorism,” the Russian state news agency TASS reported.

“The police puppy’s name is Dobrynya,” she wrote. “He was named after a Russian knight, Dobrynya, a symbol of strength, kindness, valor and selfless help.”

The act, and the cute puppy, won the hearts of social media users, as seen on Twitter:
